Three benefits of using organic beauty products

Best natural skin care, organic skin care, all-natural skin care, natural skin care, benefits of using organic beauty products

Organic skin care products have certainly enjoyed a surge in popularity in recent years as
people have tried to live a more ‘natural’ life. While all of the technology and chemical
advancements of the 20th and 21st centuries have been impressive, there’s a growing
a movement dedicated to going back to basics and using products and foods that are more
reminiscent of what our grandparents and great grandparents would have used.

The benefits of organic foods are simple – untouched by pesticides and chemicals, they’re
renowned for being better for you and better for the environment too. But what about
organic skincare products? We think that organic is 100% the way to go if you want to live
a healthier life, so let’s take a look at some of the benefits of using organic skincare and
body products.

If you want to start using all-natural skincare products exclusively, you’re going to have to
get used to doing a lot of label reading. While we’re not suggesting that any companies
would intentionally lead people astray with their packaging or labeling, sometimes labels,
company names, and packaging can be a little confusing. You’re going to have to look a bit
deeper than just the product name or picking the ‘natural’ looking packaging if you want to
be sure your organic skincare products really are organic.

If you want to be confident that your commercially available body products are truly
organic, look for the logos of certifying bodies on the label. These can include COSMOS,
Australian Certified Organic, Nature, and others (depending on where the product is
manufactured and sold). It’s also worth noting that what looks like an organic status
doesn’t mean a product is 100% organic! Sometimes, it may be that only 95% of the
ingredients of a product (apart from water, salt, and minerals – which can’t be classed as
organic) are actually organic so it’s worth checking out the ingredients as well as looking
for certifying logos.
Now – armed with all this new knowledge, let’s look at three benefits of using organic
beauty products.
1 – They’re better for your body
Did you know that up to 60% of what you put on your skin is absorbed into your system?
It’s a little scary when you think about it. Have a look at all of the body products you
currently have and see how many of the ingredients you can recognize or actually
pronounce. Chances are it’s not many. It’s a little worrying to think about 60% of those
additives and chemicals floating around in your system doing who knows what. Using
organic products will reduce your overall chemical intake, which is almost guaranteed to
be better for you in the long run.
2 – They’re better for your skin
Have you ever used lip balm only to discover that your lips are drier than before just a few
minutes after applying it? Or felt like your skin was actually drier after applying
moisturiser? One of the reasons for this is that some of the ingredients in those products,
which are designed to act as preservatives, have the added action of drying your skin out,
making you need to use more of the product. The best natural skincare products, without
things like salicylates added, are full of wonderfully nourishing ingredients, and without the
chemical preservatives to get in the way, they can feed your skin more effectively.
Organic skincare products may also be less allergenic – with fewer synthetic chemical
compounds to cause irritation. And of course, if you do have allergies to any natural things
that you know about, like aloe vera, beeswax, or lanolin, those ingredients should be easier
to recognize on the label as well.
3 – They’re better for the environment
It’s important to remember here that ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ aren’t the same thing! A natural
product doesn’t necessarily need to be organic. BUT an organic product will always be
natural.
Organic refers to how products are grown – and products that want to obtain organic
certification need to be grown with more care for the environment, using no chemicals or
pesticides. Plus, as many organic companies take their commitment to being organic one
step further, their packaging is more likely to be environmentally friendly too, meaning that
you’re going to leave a smaller environmental footprint by choosing to use those products.
So there you have it, three great reasons why you should consider giving the organic body
products a try – you’ve got nothing to lose, apart from loads of potentially harmful
chemicals and possibly a lot to gain!
